Hey, I faced a similar problem myself, but in my case, I did not want to keep the old FF... What I did was: I removed the old installation [rpm -e firefox] Then I downloaded the FF1.5 .tar.gz file Then I built a FF rpm, using rpmbuild, and installed the new FF...
