When I downgrade to 2.6.12, soundcard is detected correctly and sound is on again. The same problem with 2.6.13. No problem from upgrading 2.6.11 to 2.6.12 though previously... I run KDE Desktop on Fedora 4, but GNOME doesn't make any difference either

Hi Joao,
thanks for the suggestions. However the problem seem to be different: when I boot on the kernel 2.6.12-1398, soundcad detection solves the problem and I have the sound. But if I reboot on kernel 2.6.14-1637, soundcard is detected but no sound in fact! For example Mplayer gives the error: alsa-init failed, device busy ... When I try again, mplayer doesn't give any error, but still no sound. Namely my problem is not solved yet, so any suggestion is welcome and appreciated. Thanks, Nusret

Nusret,
The previous upgrade I made of kernel I lost sound. Bus after some updates it returned. Don't know why. Please try check all config and do the sound test. Try update sound packs. (n.b.: i'm not a expert but I solved this way same problem), Joao.
