Removing rmmod'ng usblp did not solve the problem. However, I downloaded the lastest ver. 1.0.16 from sane-project and built and installed it, when I launched kooka I saw the device selection box just as I had with FC3. That is one device for the local and one device for the net backend. A subsequent reboot and the system would not function, I know that it is because the hotplug scripts were not included in the install. So I will download the latest fedora 4 src rpm and see if I can patch it up to 1.0.16. I at least have a light at the end of the tunnel, but it will be Mon. before I will have time to do this. I do most of my shifts on Fri., Sat., & Sun. Thanks for you assistance and if I get a stable rpm I will let you and the list know. John
