Thanks !

I'll take a look at the tcpdump - but how do I debug the name resolution issue?

I have samba installed an I get an NMB error when restaring the smb service...

Any pointers?

Thanks again !

For Firefox, I'd say check if you've bookmarked any RSS feeds.  It'll
check them for updates when you start up.  That can bog things down

But if it's everything running slowly, I'd be wondering about local name
resolution for your own machine.
