this does not convince me. I dont see the difference between the
mounting of temporary filesystem and my temporarily mounted
flashdrive/mp3player/digital_camera

the tool is actually fstab-sync (the one that changes /etc/fstab) and
the config file name is
/usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/10-storage-policy.fdi
