I don't see an IP address in your ifconfig output for eth0. Are you using static IPs or DHCP to determine IP addresses? My ifconfig output: [root@genesis ~]# ifconfig -a eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:B0:D0:3D:39:91 inet addr:192.168.1.100 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::2b0:d0ff:fe3d:3991/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:2353 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:1891 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:1806538 (1.7 MiB) TX bytes:263972 (257.7 KiB) Interrupt:185 Base address:0xd480 lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:158 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:158 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:16295 (15.9 KiB) TX bytes:16295 (15.9 KiB) sit0 Link encap:IPv6-in-IPv4 NOARP MTU:1480 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) On Mon, 2005-09-05 at 23:05 +0100, Ole Robert Hestvik wrote: > > Andy Green wrote: > > On Monday 05 September 2005 21:59, Ole Robert Hestvik wrote: > > > > > >>>>64 bytes from vg.no (193.69.165.21): icmp_seq=0 ttl=246 time=3526 ms > >>> > >>>What does ifconfig say, particularly the various error counters? > >> > >> At the moment the connection cannot be activated, and I am not able > > > > > > /sbin/ifconfig -a > > > > should still have something to say.
