Hi I thank you for your suggestion but it won't work since I installed FireFox directly from the download site. Using the rpm results in a FireFox with illegible fonts. What would really help me out, is being able to produce a backtrace. Since firefox-bin cannot be invoked directly, I cannot use gdb against it, and gdb doesn't work with sh scripts (firefox load is sh script). I could not compile from source I forgot why but at that time I decided that I didn't want to go on another dependency whichhunt that's likely to take me a whole day, which I'd rather spent doing real (read paid) work. So I would be very interested to be enlighted with a technique to obtain a usable backtrace of FireFox.
