Why do you want to expose your passwords to everything on the net, by
sending them unencrypted?  Anything on your same sub-net (trojans,
malicious users, etc.) can take advantage of you.  If you were using
wireless networking, it'd be even stupider to do.

  
That is the only way I could get samba to work with XP SP2...
