After installing fedora 4, packages that I believe should have been installed were missing. I did new custom install. It seems to me that the following two counts should agree: # rpm -qa | wc -l 890 # wc -l install.log 1811 install.log # I registered with: https://bugzilla.fedora.us/ and tried searching but found nothing. Next, I tried to enter a bug but was unable. I noticed that there was no version 4 for fedora in bugzilla! Is this an old url for bugzilla? I discovered the listall.log vs rpm -qa discrepancy since I expected emacs to have been installed but it wasn't # grep emacs install.log 1077:emacs-21.4-5.i386.rpm 1078:emacs-common-21.4-5.i386.rpm 1079:emacs-el-21.4-5.i386.rpm 1080:emacs-leim-21.4-5.i386.rpm 1081:emacs-nox-21.4-5.i386.rpm 1082:emacspeak-21.0-2.i386.rpm 1211:gnuplot-emacs-4.0.0-7.i386.rpm 1254:iiimf-emacs-12.2-4.i386.rpm # rpm -qa | grep emacs <nothing> # Kickstart file automatically generated by anaconda. install cdrom lang en_US.UTF-8 langsupport --default=en_US.UTF-8 en_US.UTF-8 en_US en en_US.UTF-8 en_US en keyboard us xconfig --card "ATI Radeon Mobility M9" --videoram 65536 --hsync 31.5-37.9 --vsync 50-70 --resolution 800x600 --depth 16 --startxonboot --defaultdesktop gnome network --device eth0 --bootproto dhcp --hostname cs4.cs rootpw --iscrypted $1$NSlORink$ShWGqkpl2RYDKUnZlxOIN0 firewall --enabled selinux --disabled authconfig --enableshadow --enablemd5 timezone America/New_York bootloader --location=none # The following is the partition information you requested # Note that any partitions you deleted are not expressed # here so unless you clear all partitions first, this is # not guaranteed to work #clearpart --linux #part / --fstype ext3 --onpart hda9 #part swap --noformat --onpart hda2 %packages @ office @ engineering-and-scientific @ mysql @ editors @ system-tools @ text-internet @ legacy-network-server @ gnome-desktop @ dialup @ authoring-and-publishing @ ftp-server @ java @ network-server @ games @ legacy-software-development @ java-development @ smb-server @ base-x @ graphics @ web-server @ eclipse @ printing @ kde-desktop @ mail-server @ server-cfg @ language-support @ sql-server @ admin-tools @ dns-server @ development-tools @ sound-and-video @ graphical-internet pcmcia-cs kernel grub kernel-devel e2fsprogs %post Thanks, Dave -- Dave Blackburn info@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://LinuxConsultingCenter.com/ Linux Software Development Training
