   I attempted to boot with the following line in my grub.conf file:
   kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.12-1.1398_FC4 ro root=LABEL=/ ide=nodma

Unfortunately, there has been no change to the operation of my DVDdrives. They respond slowly, if at all, and often fail.


   What else can I test for?
