I am replying to myself.  It should be working since
you are running kernel 2.6.10-1.770_FC3.  Don't need
to send results of uname -r.  I oversaw everything. 
please disregard the message of using ungrab winmodem
module.   Probably you are having trouble because your
modem is a PCTEL that is not supported.  It would be
wise to indeed check if it is supported by forwarding
scanModem results to discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
