Have you:

a) Upgraded cdrecord to latest version?
b) Verified permissions for /usr/bin/cdrecord is 755?
c) Upgraded K3b?
d) Use K3bSetup 2 to configure K3b?
e) Try cdrdao?
f) Checked SELinux context and/or upgraded SELinux policies?

The system has most updated files. I tested the permissions as well and they are 755... Not sure what else to test/verify... the same hardware with FC2 used to work fine even for some time on FC3... then there was this kernel ugrade and since then (its been a few months now), its stopped working...

Thanks,

This kernel upgrade? Please be more specific. Which kernel?

Run the following commands and send back the results:

$ uname -r`

$ rpm -q kernel

Are you able to boot an older kernel? If so, does K3b work with that kernel?

uname -r 2.6.11-1.14_FC3

i have removed all old kernel from the machine... but i guess 2.4 kernel and early 2.6 were where it worked great... sorry i don't remember specific patch numbers....
