Are you doing an install from scratch or some kinda upgrade? If the latter, what version to what are you doing? If the former, you can create a kickstart file on a floppy disk. Then you boot up to it locally, and the install will want a target. You can do the install to whatever ip address that you want. That would be my suggestion, bypass the vnc thing or relegate it to the back burner. Search the archives for 'kickstart', there are lots of threads on that and also docs on the main redhat site.
