Paul's given you some good advice. One other thing to consider: do you need python-devel installed? (The RPM information says "Install python-devel if you want to develop Python extensions.") It's not needed for just running programs. I'm not sure, off the top of my head, whether # yum erase python-devel will actually get as far as removing the package while there is a dependency error. Running # rpm -e python-devel will either remove python-devel, or give you a list of other packages that need to be removed. I doubt there will be many: on my system, it's just sip-devel and PyQt-devel. (Again, none of the -devel packages are needed for simply running programs). Once you've got rid of python-devel, the dependency won't be there, and you can update. If you *do* need python-devel, then you can re-install after you've updated.
