Okay, this appears to have worked for me (FC3, Gnome), now :
 - Go to Applications | System Settings | Security Level
 - disable firewall and SElinux (since there's a router firewall)
I have not checked if only one needs to be shut off
 - reboot
 - using gFTP, go to File | Options | FTP
 - turn off Passive mode
 - try hitting the ftp site. I got the directory listing, which I
   was not getting before.

I have the same problem. But none of the ??conntrack files are found on my system, so the suggested exploration didn't result in anything. And I think the server I was trying to connect to is also Windows-based.

Not that this is related, but I also can't see the other (Windows) PC
on my LAN, nor can I seem to pick up the E, F, G "drives" that are on a
Win98 harddrive physically in the system. Picks up the D "drive" on that 60GB harddisk, though.
