So far I'm leaning towards the ASUS line of motherboards - However it seems like Gigabyte has some interesting and affordable boards with built-in dual lan.

Has anyone had experience with the Gigabyte line of motherboards?

In my experience gigabyte's mainboard have had excellent build quality... Most motherboard manufacturers these days (gigabyte included) have product lines that are so broad that you really have to narrow down you search criterion and look across manufactures at comparable products.

The key distingishing things I try a sort out when shopping for a new server to run linux these days are:

cpu arch - intel 32 bit or emt64 or opteron
pci-x or pci express
registered or non-registered ecc or non-ecc memory support

Getting that far will allow you to narrow you search to a few chipsets, at which point you can use other criterion like number of sata ports or scsi support or ethernet chipset (most dual-gig servers mainboards are either intel or broadcom at this point) to narrow the field down to just a few boards.

Thanks
Rick
