thanks craig, i installed smart pm i opened the gui and it doesn't install java run time env i searched for jre and no luck searching for java has results but that's all dev stuff i think did you actually use smartpm for installing jre ??

and if there was a repo that you want to have - it would be dag in my opinion.
also just a word for something that I've seen that has worked very well...Smart

yum --enablerepo=dag install smart smart-gui smart-update
installing anything is easy and cross repo conflicts are supposedly dealt with intelligently (no complaints here)
