Works for me. What I did was:

1. download jre-1_5_0_01-linux-i586-rpm.bin from Sun (go to http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and select the "Linux RPM (self-extracting file)")
2. run it to extract jre-1_5_0_01-linux-i586.rpm
3. rpm -ivh jre-1_5_0_01-linux-i586.rpm
4. cd /usr/lib/firefox-1.0/plugins
5. ln -s /usr/java/jre1.5.0_01/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so .
6. restart Firefox

hi,

is the java on this page Microsoft Java VM?
http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=-840&storeId=1&langId=-1&dualCurrId=73&categoryId=2302836

because I can't view it.

i installed the jre and made a sym link to firefox's plugin directory and still can't view the java applet on this page.

thanks
mike
