Sounds like the display isn't set up properly. Have her boot in to run level 3
by appending a 3 to the kernel on the bootup. From level 3 she will be able to
run system-config-display to set up her display.
Ok thanks.......but isn't that utility a Python/GUI utility which would
require X to be running?
