I have an
NIS account visible to a network of PCs and one HP. We have a few
more HPs, but we they will be disappearing soon from the network. The PCs
are running Fedora Core 2 (and Fedora Core 3). The HP is running
HP-UX 11.11. The NIS server is a Linux box.
I installed "ssh" on both
the Fedora Core 2 machines, and the HP-UX 11.11 machine. I installed
"HP-UX Secure Shell A.03.91 is based on OpenSSH 3.9p1" from http://www.software.hp.com.
From a couple of accounts, I can "ssh" from the PC to the HP box
fine. However, there are a couple of accounts giving me problems when I
ssh from the PC to the HP. I get either:
"Connection to irene
closed"
(and "irene" is the name of the HP box).
or
"Warning: No xauth data:
using fake authentication data for X11 forwarding.
Connection to irene
closed."
I was already getting these errors... and then decided to run the
"ssh keygen" commands to generate RSA and DSA information. But I admit I'm
not sure I'm really understanding all that. I'm following the instruction
in the "Red Hat Linux Customization Guide" fro Red Hat 9.0 (since I'm not sure
how to get Fedora documentation). Nonetheless, I'm still getting the same
errors. Now I probably need to undo all the DSA* and RSA*
stuff!
Ideas? Reference on
what to check on the PC accounts?
Thanks,
ip
