I have an FC2 system with / mounted as a RAID 0 md device. It's two 73GB partitions on separate IDE controllers. Performance is pretty good.

I've decided I'd like to mirror the stripe set. Is this possible with s/w raid?

As far as I can tell: no. See for instance

However, you can get around it using LVM. Create mirrors (RAID 1), and than add them as phycical volumes into volume group. Not the same thing as native RAID 0+1 (or 1+0), but you'll get something similar.

It would be cool if it was possible to use md device as component of another md device (would conviniently solve some other problems too).
