Yeah, in the default layout it should be /etc/grub/grub.conf. Look in there to see if the kernel is listed. If you installed an RPM it should be there, if you built your own kernel from source you will probably need to add an entry for it.
Oh, please note: there is no need to run grub-install (as Rich said) if grub is working, ie if grub loads. Changes to grub.conf do not require a reinstall.
