i logged in as root
searched for the file here is the message i recieved Could not open the document "grub.config" The document doesn't exist.
It's grub.conf, not grub.config. It should be:
/boot/grub/grub.conf
in my /etc folder it is there but it has a green arrow pointing up on the top right corner
I believe that means you're looking at a symlink.
