Hi List, there were already a few threads to the theme, but I still have the problem (FC3). I can not use xcdroast, neither k3b. Both fail. Here is the output of "cdrecord blank=fast dev=/dev/hdc": Cdrecord-Clone 2.01-dvd (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2004 Jörg Schilling Note: This version is an unofficial (modified) version with DVD support Note: and therefore may have bugs that are not present in the original. Note: Please send bug reports or support requests to http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla Note: The author of cdrecord should not be bothered with problems in this version. scsidev: '/dev/hdc' devname: '/dev/hdc' scsibus: -2 target: -2 lun: -2 Linux sg driver version: 3.5.27 Using libscg version 'schily-0.8'. cdrecord: Warning: using inofficial libscg transport code version (schily - Red Hat-scsi-linux-sg.c-1.83-RH '@(#)scsi-linux-sg.c 1.83 04/05/20 Copyright 1997 J. Schilling'). cdrecord: Cannot allocate memory. Cannot get SCSI I/O buffer. The same command issued by root results in a blanked CD-RW. Should I recompile my cdrecord, or what would help me, to be able to use k3b and xcdroast (same failure notice) as normal user? I got cdrecord to work on 2.6.8.1 by changing some source code and recompiling the kernel. Only one file needed to change. It is easy. Here is the link to the thread which talks of the problem and the fix.
