I noticed the following during the bootup:
dovecot failed:
> Nov 17 22:14:42 kjc386 dovecot: Fatal:
> Nov 17 22:14:42 kjc386 dovecot: listen(143) failed: Cannot assign requested address
> Nov 17 22:14:42 kjc386 dovecot: dovecot startup failed
"netstat -l" doesn't show anything bound to the IMAP port. And this used to work under 2.6.8-1.521:
Probably xinetd is controlling port 143 already? Check that no xinetd controlled IMAP configuration is active from /etc/xinetd.d/*. "chkconfig --list" can tell you too.
xinetd is running, I've deleted all of the old *.rpmsave files in the /etc/xinetd.d directory, service xinetd reload, and service dovecot start fails as before....
From "checkconfig --list":
xinetd based services: telnet: off time: on chargen: off chargen-udp: off daytime: off daytime-udp: off echo: off echo-udp: off time-udp: off wu-ftpd: off rsync: off comsat: off swat: on talk: off ntalk: off tftp: off finger: on bootps: off auth: on uucp: off ktalk: off services: off cups-lpd: off sgi_fam: on
I don't see any mention of imap running here....
