Hmmm... sounds like it is time for me to look at some boot > process code.... If you look at the thead indicated above - the flag 'ide=nodma' is required ONLY for the mediacheck - and nothing else. So, after the mediacheck is done - you could have installed without specifying 'ide=nodma' Satish
