Sure get the .src.rpm if you want to custom compile the kernel.

I've seen so many 'where is the source' threads - when they should be
asking - 'do I need kernel-source for my foo-bar kernel-moudule'.

And then the thread degenerates into 'why/why-not' provide source -
instead of figuring out - if kernel-source is ACTUALLY necessary for
the OP's task in mind.
