openoffice problems with fedora core 3

after intalling fedora core 3 (updated a fully updated
fedora core 2 to fedora core 3) openoffice 1.1.3
(installed from distribution from
openoffice) does not accept localized characters such
as åäö (å
ä ö) instead it displays strange chars, see
attachment

i tried reinstalling openoffice 1.1.3, no change.
keyboard is set to swedish. the same charachters work
fine in other
aplications.

i use the non localized version of openoffice.
i also tried 1.9.m60, same problem.

i have filed a bug, but i am interested to know if
somebody has already solved this problem or know a
solution?
