Even on RH9 a third party pppoe was never necessary. The slightly
customized rp-pppoe (changed by Redhat) always worked.

Besides what Douglas already replied:

There is no guaranty that an upgrade from any test release to the final
stable release will succeed! So better wait one further month until FC3
stable comes out. If you want to test upcoming FC3 with the current test
2 release, then get a test machine and join up the testers' list. There
are still enough issue making it a bad choice for any production (means:
must be reliable) system.
