The Genesys Chipset caused me some trouble as well and it was very similar to your experience. I filed it with Bugzilla https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=122522 which also includes the solution (change a parameter in the kernel source and recompile the kernel). The big difference is, that I had those problems when running FC1 with a 2.4.22 kernel and Pete Zaitcev added a comment to the bug report, that FC2 is going to change the necessary parameters, when it detects a Genesys Chipset. Therefore, I would have guessed, that this is not the cause for your problems, but since it sounds very similar, to what I experienced, maybe you give a try.

The access LED remains lit on the usb drive

The usb drive works fine on a window$ box.

If my problem has already been described, please forward me to the right
place.

Please have a look at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=122522

The code is in the current 2.6.8 sources, but there is always the possibility that the test for Genesys is failing due to some minor changes in what the chipset reports. I would try hard-coding the limit at 120 (60 KB), and commenting out the test, just to see if that works.
