The Genesys Chipset caused me some trouble as well and it was very similar to your experience. I filed it with Bugzilla https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=122522 which also includes the solution (change a parameter in the kernel source and recompile the kernel). The big difference is, that I had those problems when running FC1 with a 2.4.22 kernel and Pete Zaitcev added a comment to the bug report, that FC2 is going to change the necessary parameters, when it detects a Genesys Chipset. Therefore, I would have guessed, that this is not the cause for your problems, but since it sounds very similar, to what I experienced, maybe you give a try.
