INFO: Dovecot + file_lock_dotlock()

This is Stricly FYI because I can't seem to get Dovecot running as a
pop3 server for my box.

#rpm -qa dovecot
dovecot-0.99.10.9-2.1.fc2.dag

What happens:
$ telnet localhost 110
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
+OK dovecot ready.
user user_dove
+OK
pass xxxx
+OK Logged in.
Connection closed by foreign host.

Error Description:
Error: open(/var/mail/user.lock) failed: Permission denied
Error: file_lock_dotlock() failed with mbox file /var/mail/user: Permission denied

Solution:
http://wiki.dovecot.org/moin.cgi/VarMailDotLock

Since v0.99.10.9 it's possible to fix this by adding to config file:
mail_extra_groups = mail

After I did that, pop3 works.

So.. in effect, Dovecot doesn't work out-of-the-box as I've read.
Anyway, this is FYI
