I downloaded A207 firmware for the drive, but alas you need Windows to
install it. I guess the only alternative is to remove it from the
machine and put it on my bench and do it that way. I'll do a test run on
my drive first, even though it works on FC2.

DMA is now off. I don't remember how to make that change permanent

I went there and posted. There were some heated comments part way down.
It seems this is a common problem related to ATAPI and the emulation I
guess.

80 pin cables all the way now. Benn using them for the past couple years
on everything, just so I get the grounding on each pin. They are only a
few cents more than the 40 pin cables. Normally I have extra with all
the drives I purchase.

Thanks everyone. I'll have to try the firmware update this weekend. You
have definately given me something think about.

Is there a way to see the current firmware in Linux of the drive? So I
know how old the one is that is currently on there?
