Should I upgrade my dvdrecord file to a > newer version? This is one of those "famous" errors the ide-scsi layer is known to produce, sometimes, not for all. It is tricky and depends on hardware used, especially the burning device. I don't see a brand name from the scanbus output. Check for a firmware update for the device. Check how DMA mode is set for the device and change it. You will find some hints googling.
