Try to comment 'Load "dri"' in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
Solved the problem with lockup when logging out from My Dell Optiplex GX240
with the same graphics card.
That's the last thing I've tried, but the machine's not been logged out since
then. Here's hoping ;)
