IIRC, Fedora Core 2 uses "Code Morphing" or something like that in the kernel, and this causes some incompatibilities and slowness. This also causes it to simply not work at all under Virtual PC. Check the MS Web site (I know, I know), there's a Virtual PC discussion forum thread that addresses the issue and a recompiled kernel that doesn't use the offending code that apparently allows you to run FC2 under Virtual PC, and runs FC2 at normal speed under VMWare. It's slow as molasses and I cannot get X to run. I never had a problem with Red Hat (up through 9) or Core 1.
