EVO n600C and ACPI (automatical fan-control)

I am running FC2 on an Compaq EVO n600c. It's working fine, exept one
thing: The fan never starts. This does naturaly lead to the laptop
getting _very_ hot, unless i turn the fan on manually by doing
"echo "on" /proc/acpi/fan/C1E1/state"
which seem to hang the /proc/acpi/fan/C1E1/state so i can't get the fan
turned back off without rebooting. Does anyone have any experience with
this or similar issues?
