I spent a day downloading and reading googled bits and I did get xv
working although it slowed the system down somewhat and the following
day it locked up xserver when trying to view DVD's (strange it worked
one day and not the next perhaps it was the slocate updating that did it
:( )

So I've gone back to vesa until a guru comes along. Either that or I'll
get a plug in card. Even that seems fraught with danger. Which make
nVidia or ATI? I believe there's more than one make of graphics card ;)
