Sorry it took so long to get back to this. I've been puttingin long hours building a multi-site VPN with road-warriors. It's been fun, but has more or less consumed me for the past few days. If you have connectivity by address but not by name, then the name resolution is the culprit. Looking at your smb.conf, it seems you've stripped out everything relating to name resolution. There's actually several parts that all need to be configured so they mesh, and as it's just past 1AM now, I'm going to call it a night. I'll get back to you after I've had some rest and time to study my smb.conf and the smb.conf man page a bit. > Ok having said that, I think I will not ask how to connect to > my laptop > FROM the linux machine... Neah looks scary. By the time we're through, it'll be painless. I promise. > I think I am going to bed. Good idea! Eric Diamond eDiamond Networking & Security 303-246-9555 eric@xxxxxxxxxxxx
