I know of two Fortune 100 companies that do. RHEL w/ PeopleSoft running

I use Linux at work... I am a kernel hacker at work. That is my job.
Redhat 9 works for me at work because the motherboard is not completely
state of the art.
Right, and state of the art MB's, notebooks etc. indeed do not always
(completely) work. So, unfortunately, we as Linux users have to be
very careful when buying such hardware. *Always* do some research
*before* buying HW.
Thus, Linux stays as a hobbyist/hacker system for the desktop.
Nope, I do not know of ANY major corporation that uses bleeding edge kit
to support their business.
Servers are always at least 1-2 steps back from the edge.
You want stable, not really FAST...
Also, I am running an Intel dual pentium3 SMP system here, with no problems
and uptime (at the moment) of about 43 days. That was when I transplanted it
into a new case, and I think it was up for over 100 days before that.
My other box used to run w2k, but this was moved to a fedora Core1 box
recently when I got sick of the worms... :-(
I am sorry that you have had problems, and I can understand your frustration.
You have stated that you do not need confirmation, or commiseration.
Just exactly what do you want?
Use what works for you. :-)
