The download ftp server does have two IPs in DNS, but without knowing if
it is just a logical separation or a physical one it is hard to guess.  Of
course with the load situation on the main server you might have got a
corrupt header update anyway.  You should really use a mirror.

Restarting rhn-applet will cause it to do a check.  So if your machine
checked right before the updates came out it wouldn't see them for 4 hours
anyway (the time between checks).  And, again, there is the bug I
mentioned earlier.
