debian and co have been at it for a while. The processes for managing user contributions to fedora (whether patches or software) haven't (visibly) make any progress yet. It seems a big ask to have them working smoothly by the time the support for RH9 runs out. If they do, great.why? debian, openbsd, gentoo, are quick with their patches.. why couldn't fedora? If they are unsure of fedora why in heck would they be sure of rhel knock offs? Or debian or gentoo? Lets face it, if your stuff is important enough for you to worry about then it is probably worth it to go with a commercial distro. Also why couldnt you submit these patches if you are so concerned? or donate money to someone who can do it for you?
The ideal as I see it would be an independent, user-supported distribution that is supported by third-party software providers (RedHat etc).
