Its not the same.  Here I have Linux as the main OS, but when I need it XP and 
98 on the same 3GHz laptop, with 1GB RAM.  You don't lose out on performance 
if Linux is idling and you are doing something in XP (at least, I can't see 
any performance degradation with the apps I use), or the guest OS is idling 
and you are maxing out Linux.  Instead of three machines I have just the one 
(mostly) silent one on one HDD.  The other machines' filesystems are ext3 
files on the Linux host, they get fully backed up with the Linux machine.  
You can also cut and paste between VMs which is kinda hard on a KVM :-)

This bit was actually a reply to Craig :-)  ... pretty sure he was 
complaining.
