  2 things to check:
    - that you have a notification area on the panel if none:
      + right click on panel
      + > Add to Panel
      + > Utilities
      + > Notification Area
    - that the applet is actually running, if it is not the case:
      + open the main menu on the panel
      + > System Tools
      + > Red Hat Network Alert Icon

If you don't have a notification area on the panel the applet is probably
running, but not displayed. Running
  ps aux | grep rhn-applet | grep -v grep
allows to see if there is an applet running
