SubSection "Display" Depth 24 (or whatever you have it set to) Modes "1152x870" <-- make sure this is here with whichever others you may want to have available EndSubSection EndSection I believe X will default to the highest resolution in the Modes line, so you may want to leave out anything higher than 1152x870, or else there may be another step involved to set that one as your preferred resolution.
