In order to be able to mail with the outside world, I put this in main.cf: myorigin = myprovider.com This works, but the problem is that mail sent to an address without the domain part, is sent to myprovider.com. This is most of the time not what I want, e.g. mails about logwatch (which are by default sent to "root") etc. should _not_ go to root@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx, but to root@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx What do I have to do to be able to mail with the outiside world, and at the same time have localhost.localdomain as the default domain? However, when i first installed FC1 it was just a test install, and now i'd really appreciate some info about how to change the partition layout in order to totally eradicate my old windows crap (that doesn't boot since some years though) and to get a better/more intelligent partition layout. So, what can i use for this task? At the moment i don't have a specific partition for /home, and i'd like to have one. How can i make sure that if i create one and move all data everything will work again? I tried some months ago to do something like this but it didn't work. You can't. At least not directly. One work-around would be to create an ext3 filesystem in a file (with the help of a loop device) and use mkisofs to wrap that ext3 image file into an ISO 9660 CD filesystem and then burn the ISO to CD. However, that would give you one big file on the CD which you would have to mount via a loop device everytime you want to read the files stored within. --=20 --Signature=_Thu__18_Dec_2003_12_02_27_+0100_lsPhlyX8s3Bt.4=a Content-Type: application/pgp-signature -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.3 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/4YlD0iMVcrivHFQRAkA8AJ9FZkTOhBUoGaTbgAGrlzne/2Pz8ACfRTlo cB5z3Kwcpw0nBZgTqQ5uJTI= =stEe -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --Signature=_Thu__18_Dec_2003_12_02_27_+0100_lsPhlyX8s3Bt.4=a-- --__--__-- Message: 8 Date: Thu, 18 Dec 2003 11:01:53 +0000 From: Neil Bird <neil@xxxxxxxxxx> To: fedora-list@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: Detecting of modem's turned on? When I run soundcard detection it finds Model: Intel 82801EB AC97 Audio controller it then attempts to load the i810_audio driver that fails to load. I am a newbie. Please be gentle. You can make it work indirectly. When I used evolution I still used procmail to filter incoming mail into different folders, and then ran an imap server and pointed evolution at the imap server. This is obviously a little less efficient, but it means I can read my mail from different machines, and I can switch mail clients without worrying about what format the mail folders need to be in. This doesn't fall under a good reason to use "--nodeps" (there aren't many). If you install the RPMs using one command (for example rpm -Uvh *.rpm) then RPM takes care of the dependancies. Using nodeps leaves the possibility of missed packages, version conflicts, etc. -- William Hooper --__--__-- Message: 30 Subject: Re: multiple duplicate postings -- whose fault is it? For me, 2.6.0 is better than 2.4 at handling interactive work (i.e. preemptible kernel). 2.6.0 has better disk I/O scheduling (in fact, two disk schedulers - as and deadline - by default and another one - CFQ - which can be added by applying a patch) which translates in faster accesses and more throughput. Additionally, enhancements to the VM subsystem allows me to run continuously without even touching the swap on a 256MB machine, whereas 2.4 swaps in the same conditions. And last, but not least, I want to live on the bleeding edge :-) --__--__-- -- fedora-list mailing list fedora-list@xxxxxxxxxx http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list End of fedora-list Digest
