If you use the modules-init-tools tarbol, when installing
there is a stage where the old modprobe gets copied to
modprobe.old. This is so that the 2.4 kernel modules have
something to work with. I believe, without evidence to back
me up, that the modutils FC1 provides works with both 2.4
and 2.6 kernels. I have modutils-2.4.25-13 installed that
works with both kernels. I aktually edited by hand the
modprobe.conf using modules.conf as a guide.
