I cant ping the xp machine....how do I turn on masquerading on xp?

Can you ping the winxp machine?

Use /usr/sin/traceroute www.google.com to see the path your packets 
take.  If DNS does not work use 216.239.57.99

Make sure masquerading is turned on on the winxp machine - IMHO it's the 
most likely mistake.
