Just to reinforce, since everyone seems to be worrying about the inittab file 
and XF86Config &c. Just tried on this system with GeForce2 and it was the 
easiest thing ever. And '/sbin/init 3' is your friend. Getting 1850FPS on 
glxgears, is that good? :)
