OK Brian and Jess,you've convinced me! I managed to shuffle data around
so I had a physical disk to start afresh. The old partitions were still
available so I could copy the required config files.

Looks OK so far. iptables and pppoe and ddclient working as expected.
The yum "--enablerepo" switch is the best thing...

Now to post some queries on xcdroast and k3b...
