Ok - grabbed the 2.8.6.tar.gz and rebuilt the rpm - and tried it.
2.8.6 is a bit slow compared to 2.8.4 - but it worked.

Perhaps you can try logging via the web interface once (get through
any new click-through updates) - and try fetchyahoo again?

Tried that, didn't help.

It looks to be something in the new message-identifying code because it's getting the number of available messages right but it's just not able to get their message-IDs and download them.

Looks like the problem might be uk-specific, which would account for why the author hasn't noticed the problem before.
